Examination Structure
The UG-CLAT 2024 is a 2-hour test consisting of 120 multiple-choice questions, each carrying one mark. However, it’s important to note that for every wrong answer, there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks. These questions are divided into five subjects:

In this section, you will encounter passages of approximately 450 words each. These passages are sourced from contemporary or historically significant fiction and non-fiction writing, ensuring a 12th standard student can comfortably read them within 5-7 minutes. Questions in this section aim to assess your comprehension and language skills, including your ability to:
- Comprehend the main point discussed in the passage, as well as any arguments and viewpoints presented.
- Draw inferences and conclusions based on the passage.
- Summarise the passage effectively.

2. Current Affairs, including General Knowledge
This section includes passages of up to 450 words each, derived from news, journalistic sources, and other non-fiction writing. The questions aim to test your awareness of various aspects of current affairs and general knowledge, including:
- Contemporary events of significance from India and the world.
- Arts and culture.
- International affairs.
- Historical events of continuing significance.
3. Legal Reasoning
Legal reasoning involves reading passages of around 450 words each, which may relate to fact situations, legal matters, public policy questions, or moral philosophical inquiries. Importantly, you do not require any prior knowledge of law to tackle these questions. To excel in this section, it is beneficial to have a general awareness of contemporary legal and moral issues. Questions will require you to:
- Identify and infer the rules and principles set out in the passage.
- Apply these rules and principles to various fact situations.
- Understand how changes to the rules or principles may alter their application to different fact situations.
4. Logical Reasoning
The Logical Reasoning section consists of short passages, each about 450 words long, followed by questions that test your ability to:
- Recognize arguments, their premises, and conclusions.
- Analyze patterns of reasoning and assess how conclusions may depend on particular premises or evidence.
- Infer what follows from the passage and apply these inferences to new situations.
- Draw relationships, analogies, identify contradictions, and assess the effectiveness of arguments.
5. Quantitative Techniques
This section involves sets of facts or propositions, along with other numerical information. Questions will require you to derive, infer, and manipulate numerical information, as well as apply mathematical operations. This includes areas such as ratios and proportions, basic algebra, mensuration, and statistical estimation.

- Guides to the question paper and sample questions: Familiarizing yourself with the exam format and typical questions is crucial.
- Model question papers: Practicing with model papers can help you get a feel for the actual exam.
- Instructional materials and exercises: These materials will be available for each subject covered in the UG-CLAT 2024.

- Maximum Marks: 120

- the eligibility criteria for the Undergraduate (UG) Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2024:
- 1. Age Limit:
- There is no upper age limit for candidates appearing for the UG Programme through CLAT 2024.
- 2. Educational Qualifications:
- Candidates must have a minimum percentage of marks in their qualifying examination, which is typically 10+2 or an equivalent examination.
- For candidates belonging to the General, OBC, PWD, NRI, PIO, and OCI categories, the minimum requirement is forty-five percent (45%) marks or its equivalent grade.
- For candidates belonging to the SC/ST categories, the minimum requirement is forty percent (40%) marks or its equivalent.
- 3. Eligibility for Candidates Appearing for Qualifying Examination in 2024:
- Candidates who are set to appear for their qualifying examination in March/April 2024 are also eligible to appear for the CLAT 2024 examination.
- However, they must provide evidence of passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission. Failure to do so will result in the loss of their eligibility for admission.
- 4. Submission of Qualifying Examination Result:
- The result of the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2) must be submitted by the candidate at the time of admission. Failure to do so will render the candidate ineligible for admission to the chosen course.
- 5. Tie-Breaking Procedure:
- In case more than one candidate secures an equal number of marks in the CLAT 2024, the tie-breaking procedure will be as follows:
- Higher marks in the component/section on Legal Aptitude in the CLAT 2024 exam.
