Farmers Pause ‘Delhi Chalo’ March, Extend Protest at Punjab-Haryana Borders Till February 29

In a strategic decision, farmers leading the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march have opted to halt their movement and continue their protest at the Punjab-Haryana borders until February 29. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM), at the forefront of this ongoing agitation at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders, jointly made this announcement on February 23.
The decision was conveyed by their leader, Sarwan Singh Pandher, who stated, “The next announcement about the agitation will be made on February 29,” during a media interaction at the Khanauri protest site.
During this temporary hiatus, the farmers have outlined a series of activities to amplify their cause. A candle march is scheduled for February 24, followed by seminars addressing farmers’ concerns on February 25. On February 26, the farmers plan to burn effigies representing the World Trade Organization and the Centre, symbolizing their discontent with these entities. Additionally, multiple meetings of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha are slated over the next two days.
