UPPSC RO/ARO Exam Cancelled Amid Paper Leak Allegations
In a significant development, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has canceled the Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer (RO/ARO) exam held on February 11, following allegations of a paper leak. Candidates, intensifying protests, claimed that the question paper had been copied using technology, leading to confusion about which version was leaked.
Cancellation and Re-Examination
The cancellation was announced by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s office, responding to the candidates’ uproar. The Chief Minister’s office assured a re-examination within the next 6 months. Additionally, a pledge to identify and take strict action against those involved in the alleged paper leak was emphasized.
Protests and Demands
Candidates launched sit-in protests at Pathar Girija Ghar in Prayagraj district, demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the paper leak. Expressing skepticism about the UP Public Service Commission’s intentions, candidates questioned the absence of a First Information Report (FIR) in the case.
UPPSC Forms Probe Commission
Under mounting pressure, the UPPSC formed a three-member commission to investigate the paper leak allegations. The commission’s primary focus is to determine the validity of the claims and assess potential impacts on the upcoming UPPSC RO/ARO Main examination scheduled for July 28.
Investigation Objectives
The investigative committee aims to identify the origin of the information breach, particularly focusing on the choice of examination venues. Candidates allege irregularities in this aspect, raising concerns about the influence of private schools and administrative staff at district magistrate offices in the selection of examination centers.
Allegations of Unfair Center Selection
Candidates argue that despite the Commission having authority over the designation of examination centers under the jurisdiction of district magistrates, there is widespread favoritism towards private institutions. The influence of private schools and administrative staff in several districts allegedly neglects government and government-aided colleges, creating an unfair advantage for private institutions as examination centers.
As the investigation unfolds, candidates await justice and transparency in the process. The cancellation of the UPPSC RO/ARO exam has not only raised questions about the integrity of the examination system but has also spotlighted the need for a thorough review of the selection and management of examination centers.
