SpaceVIP has partnered with Michelin-starred Danish chef Rasmus Munk to host the first-ever stratospheric dining experience.
Under this groundbreaking mission, only six adventurous souls will have the opportunity to savor a meal above 99 percent of Earth’s atmosphere during a six-hour journey aboard a high-tech space balloon.
The ticket price for this extraordinary trip, scheduled to debut next year, is set at a staggering $495,000.
All proceeds from this exclusive voyage will be donated to the Space Prize Foundation, an organization dedicated to promoting gender equity in science and technology.
Since the announcement of this unique journey, numerous individuals have expressed keen interest in participating and have inquired about how to sign up.
“This is the first in a series of expeditions in partnership with leading artists designed to harness the power of space travel to elevate human consciousness and to promote universal space literacy,” said SpaceVIP founder Roman Chiporukha to The New York Post.

Chef Rasmus Munk will curate the cuisine for the fortunate six passengers, who will ascend 100,000 feet (30 kilometers) above sea level. While witnessing the sunrise over the curvature of the Earth, they will also have access to Wi-Fi aboard Spaceship Neptune, enabling them to live-stream their space experience and connect with loved ones on Earth.
Speaking with Bloomberg, Chef Munk revealed that the menu is still under development. However, he envisions the dishes to be as innovative as the space voyage itself, with concepts such as aerogel-inspired food and encapsulated fragrances.
Despite the astronomical price, Chef Munk, who will be accompanying the journey, mentioned that there is immense interest from a larger audience than the spaceship can accommodate.
“We’re aware that it’s an expensive first journey. But this is after all the first launch with these food experiences on board,” said Chef Munk, expressing his ambition to conduct more such trips at lower prices.
individuals have already expressed tremendous interest in this once-in-a-lifetime experience, with only six seats available. “We anticipate securing all passengers in the next few weeks.”
What is Spaceship Neptune?
Space Perspective’s Spaceship Neptune is the world’s first carbon-neutral spaceship, set to launch from Florida’s Kennedy Space Center in late 2025.
According to Space Perspective’s co-founder and CEO Jane Poynter, the company aims to provide a space experience that is more accessible than ever before.
SpaceVIP is not the first company to offer the opportunity to dine in space. Last year, France-based Zephalto revealed plans to offer dining experiences on a balloon at the edge of the stratosphere for at least $132,000, beginning in 2025.
